Exclusively by Bragais™ for Miss World 2013 Megan Young

wpid-wp-1425852819773.jpeg For this, the last in the latest pageant heel collection of my favorite shoemaker and designer Jojo Bragais of BRAGAIS™, he has saved the best for our first Miss World Megan Young with two pairs of identical creations in gold and silver. And what else to call them but ‘Megan’. And true to the ideals of promoting “Beauty With A Purpose” his own way, here is what Jojo has to say about the said heels.

This last design for the new collection of pageant heels is a tribute for Miss Megan Young-the very first and only Filipina to ever win a Miss World Crown..

And since the core values of Miss World is about giving ” Beauty with a purpose” I promise to donate 10% of the total sales for the Megan design at the end of the year to a chosen charity. Just like what her successor Miss Valerie Weigmann said ” It is truly in giving that we become beautiful.”

Exclusively by Bragais™ for Miss World 2013 Megan Young

I doff my hat to dear Jojo Bragais for coming up with these last pairs with a very apt tribute to Queen Megan and for incorporating the charity initiative as well. What’s more, I like the design. I bet this is going to be his bestseller yet. :-)

Megan during her very recent photoshoot at Palace Pool Club

Just yesterday, Miss World 2013 Megan Young had her photoshoot (left photo) at the Palace Pool Club for Hola Philippines. This is for the cover of an upcoming issue where…ehem…your blogger has been commissioned to write the accompanying article. This is also the main reason behind my lunch/coffee date with our Queen last week when we talked about a lot of things – from pageantry to love life to MariMar and all.

I hope you can support the issue (it should be for September, 2015) by getting a copy. I will make a separate post about the actual release of the glossy once it finally hits your favorite newsstands and bookstores.

Meanwhile, I have uploaded the cover of the August, 2015 ish below. ;-)

Megan Young as MariMar will premiere this coming Monday, August 24

image This coming Monday, August 24, Miss World 2013 Megan Young will return to primetime TV with the start of “MariMar” on GMA 7. And our Queen really gave her best in performing her biggest lead role to date. It would really warm her heart even more if you will support and watch the series.

Megan will have actor Tom Rodriguez as leading man, with an excellent cast led by Bb. Pilipinas International 1986 Alice Dixson, Jaclyn Jose, Lauren Young, Zoren Legaspi, Ina Raymundo, Jaya Ramsey, Dion Ignacio, Candy Pangilinan, Carmi Martin, Nova Villa, Tommy Abuel, Frank Magalona, Ricardo Cepeda and Cris Villanueva.

Watch the two videos below. The first is a news clip on how Megan and Tom prepared for their roles, while the second is an interview with PEP on how the new remake will be played by Miss World 2013 herself. :-)

imageimageMiss World 2013 Megan Young is a happy MariMar. The pilot episode of her show was on top of the Philippine-trending hashtags (#MariMar2015) last night. And pending the release of actual TV ratings from AGB Nielsen and Kantar, it should have posted healthy numbers alongside the competition.

Megan and leading man Tom Rodriguez would like to thank everyone for the support and are asking for the continued support of the show on GMA-7 every night after 24Oras.

Thumbs up to the new MariMar! :-D

And following the same thread, it is likely that his blog will go live starting Tuesday, September 1. It’s coming real soon. And it should be filled with a lot of highlights and sidelights from all the beauty pageants he has fielded his winning national and international Queens in, and more. Juicier than juicy tidbits, I reckon?

I can’t wait to read the first entry! :-D

On the cover of the October issue of Speed Magazine is Miss World 2013 Megan Young who is experiencing an excellent resurgence in her TV career because of the good ratings of her teleserye “MariMar”, alongside the countless appearances she has been getting in shows of GMA-7 which is currently going into phenomenal popularity by the day because of the Aldub craze that translates into extra attention for all its contract artists.

It’s only going to get stronger for Megan, career-wise. Methinks she will be in the lead status for the long haul, even after the scheduled finish of her show mid-December. Everything is going to be upswing for our Queen! :-)

Back in 2013, Megan Young won Miss World Philippines Laguna during the candidates’ provincial tour. Last year, Valerie Weigmann was proclaimed Miss World Philippines Camarines Sur 2014. And just earlier in the week, Mia Allyson Hernandez Howell was named Miss World Philippines Ilocos Sur 2015. Is there a trend happening here?

You see, that provincial special award is looking like a potential indicator of who might eventually win the Miss World Philippines crown. And if Mia is getting into the inside track of things, then could she be the next? Or is there someone else who could break the spell of the past two years?

Mia has the brains, talent and personality to actually get into the profile of a Miss World candidate. But so are a handful of the remaining favorites. But if she is fated to become Valerie’s successor, then so be it! ;-)

Newly-crowned Miss World Philippines 2015 Hillarie Danielle Parungao is not about to take it easy after her victory. After all, she has less than a month to prepare for Miss World 2015 in Sanya, China. And starting last night, she already buckled down to business with Miss World 2013 Megan Young who started laying down the cards on the table on what to expect in the competition. It won’t be an easy task, and not even our former titleholder will endeavor to answer all the specific questions that could possibly be less applicable now.

But for sure, Megan has very useful tips and suggestions to share to Hillarie. More than any other Filipina, she is the one who became very close to Julia Morley. She can size up the long journey ahead for our bet and field in recommendations that would still prove very useful.

Of course, the China factor is something hard to work around with. And it is a hurdle that Hillarie must learn how to face head-on. On top of that, she needs to focus on at least two (2) fast-track events where she has an excellent fighting chance of winning. No use being a Jill of All Trades at this point. The clock is ticking.

So what, dear readers, are your inputs for Hillarie’s preparations? ;-)

It sure won’t be easy considering what we all felt last year when Valerie Weigmann was the one gunning for the same with Megan Young as the outgoing Queen. There has to be a positive halo effect right from the start for us to feel if a particular delegate could be the right one for the job or not.

And with the changes that Julia Morley will start instituting in Sanya, who really knows what she is looking for in the next potential blue crown wearer.

Let’s watch Liesl’s video now. Switch to HD for better viewing pleasure. :-)

But before you start wondering what that means, let me just say that it is the catchphrase in her latest TV commercial for Security Bank, courtesy of PC&V Communications. And considering the continuity of her endorsement for the said bank, she must really be doing a fine job in being its face on TV and Print Ads. Actually, she goes well with the new look and feel of all Security Bank branches nationwide.

Our Queen, who continues to sizzle as ‘MariMar’ every week nights on GMA-7, continues to look as beautiful as the day she won the blue crown in Bali, Indonesia more than two years ago.

We all know that Miss World 2013 Megan Young is now in Sanya, China to help host Miss World 2015 this coming Saturday, December 19. Being the professional that she is, our Queen made sure that she wrapped up all her taping schedules for the upcoming finale of her teleserye “MariMar” on GMA-7 before finally departing for the pageant. Actually, she was supposed to finish only around this time, but with some adjustments, an earlier finish allowed her to take a few extra days to add up to her stay in the Chinese resort city.

And in Sanya, Megan was reunited with the reigning Rolene Strauss and her immediate predecessor Wenxia Yu. She also got the bonus of bonding with other past winners like Agbani Darego, Azra Akin and Ksenia Sukhinova.

Megan is having a fun time in Sanya. And we all know that she’ll do her job as one of the finals host perfectly well. ;-)

Sunday Specials: And now that the Philippines is a Pageant Powerhouse…

A photo grid of the Filipinas who have helped establish the country as a global force in pageantry

It took our 3rd Miss Universe crown courtesy of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach to finally put the missing piece in the puzzle that has now validated the Philippines as a 100% global force to reckon with in international beauty pageantry. The first installment came last 2013 when Megan Young claimed our first Miss World victory that was perfectly complimented by our first Miss Supranational win via Mutya Johanna Datul and the 5th Miss International glory through the efforts of Bea Rose Santiago.

2014 was a testing ground of sorts for the next installment. But with the hometown victory of Jamie Herrell as Miss Earth counting as the only major breakthrough to speak of, the Filipinos were brought back to the drawing boards for one full year to re-evaluate its impact in the pageant arena.

And in 2015 that proved to be the year of getting back with a beautiful vengeance, the Filipinas stamped its class all over again – ending the 42-year drought in Miss Universe, achieving a rare back-to-back in Miss Earth outside its own backyard, snatching our first Miss Globe title, proving that our transgender women are the best for the second time in Miss International Queen, continuing our glorious luck in Malaysia with yet another top finish in Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International and even scoring a surprise honor in Miss Scuba International. Whew! The blessings just keep on coming with a string of nice placements in the other competitions. It’s like the Philippines should always be there – as #1, runner-up, finalist or semifinalist. The list wouldn’t be complete if our representatives did not make the cut at the very least.

So where do we go from here? Some people say that when you’re on top of a pedestal, there’s no other way to go but down. But I daresay that we are now tireless achievers. It’s like filling in the shoes that Venezuela and India stepped into during their enviable years onstage. We have certifiably arrived. We need not feel too bothered of still being crown-less in both Miss Intercontinental and Miss Grand International. The right time will come with these two contests.

How long will this last? Will 2016 put us in the back seat once more? Have we set the bar so high for our next national titleholders to reach? Are we in for some reality check sooner or later? Or will we continue to dominate in fearless fashion?

Being a powerhouse pageant nation has its share of ups and downs. For as long as we are mature enough to accept the fact that it won’t be a bed of roses or a collection of crowns all the time, then we should be in for the long haul regardless of whether we can match, surpass or fall short of the precious gifts that the past three years have generously rewarded us.

Have a restful Sunday, dear readers! Tomorrow, most of us will resume with another back-breaking, traffic-stressed year of work. ;-)

Miss World 2013 Megan Young at the Kapama Private Game Reserve in South Africa

Earlier this week, Miss World 2013 Megan Young made a quick trip to Singapore where she watched an open-field concert. I follow her Instagram account and learned that the stay in the Lion City was just a prelude to her next journey. She is now in South Africa, enjoying the beastly sights of the Safari while jotting down thoughts on her daily adventures. The large photo in the grid above was taken at the Kapama Private Game Reserve where she wrote the following description:

We usually leave at 6am for the game drive but on this particular day, we asked our ranger if we could leave earlier to catch the sunrise. We left the reserve by 4:45am and drove into an open meadow where it was safe enough to go down and have some coffee while waiting for the sun to rise. It was a bit cloudy but soon enough, a red light started peeping through the clouds. The sun was rising. Waking up earlier than usual was worth it. #TravelWithAccess @accesstravelph

I’m pretty sure the next few images Megan will share are worth looking forward to. This is such an incredible vacation for our Miss World 2013.

Of course, she is not by her lonesome in South Africa. But I digress from talking about such details. She is, after all, very low profile about that part of her life. And I respect her request.

Enjoy the trip, Queen Megan! ;-)

Miss World 2013 Megan Young and TV/Film Actor Mikael Daez are currently on a holiday break in Tokyo. With the sweet couple in between teleseryes at the moment, the Land of the Rising Sun seems to be always the perfect choice for a vacation around the region. From morning breakfasts at Tsukiji Market to strolls around the quieter streets of Tokyo all the way to meaningful glances inside the subway – truly pictures speak louder than words in the modern jet-setting love story of the two.

I love how they handle the relationship in the eyes of many. No sweetness overload. Just sincere nuances and affection for each other.

No more, but mean more.:-)

Miss World 2013 Megan Young as made up by Albert Kurniawan

Don’t ask me what the latest endorsement or TV commercial of Miss World 2013 Megan Young is because my lips are still sealed on that. Just enjoy her beautiful face above courtesy of Albert Kurniawan for her latest product shoot and filming.

Megan has become one of the favorite commercial models on TV now. She has done tons for Palmolive Conditioner and Palmolive Naturals. She also made quite a number for Security Bank and Security Bank Cashback Mastercard. There is also her TVC with actor Xian Lim for Kopiko Brown Coffee. And before I forget, she did a relatively funny one for Ligo Tuna.

Here are six of the latest.
